Ocean in the Boardroom

Ocean Decade Australia’s white paper demonstrates signs of a mindset shift in the boardroom. Directors are beginning to recognise the ocean as a foundational asset underpinning operational continuity, long-term value creation, and community trust.

“At Sea Forest, the ocean isn’t a ‘sustainability pillar’ – it’s our operating system.” Sam Elson, Chief Executive Officer and Founder at Sea Forest Ltd

“Our net-positive biodiversity pledge comes from the boardroom down to the projects. “ Per Mejnert Kristensen CEO of Region APAC, Ørsted

In 2023 marine industries contributed 9.1% of Australia’s GDP and supported 713,000 FTE jobs. 85% of Australians live within 50 kilometres of the coast. Australian’s oceans play a vital role in the nation’s overall well-being.
