The Nature Action Portal is a free resource co-created by WBCSD and over 100 companies to help sustainability practitioners move from nature ambition to measurable action. Users follow a three-step process:

1. Explore their sector's material nature dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities.
2. Plan priority actions for operations and supply chains.
3. Identify the most relevant and feasible metrics to track and disclose progress.

Rather than creating new metrics, the Portal draws exclusively from existing voluntary and regulatory frameworks. This includes:

  • Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosure
  • Science Based Target Network
  • Global Reporting Initiative
  • Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive
  • EU Taxonomy

The Portal currently covers five sectors (agri-food, forest products, energy, built environment, pharmaceuticals), two bio-based supply chains, and water as a cross-cutting theme.

A companion strategic outline released at COP16 (October 2024) covers the rationale, methodology, and framework alignment underpinning the tool.
