This multidisciplinary literature review examines how financial markets can help close the funding gap for investment in nature conservation and repair, to meet the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C climate target and the goal of neutral land degradation by 2030. It examines the need for private investment, identifies key financial mechanisms that can encourage nature positive investment, and unpacks the barriers and enablers of scaling up these mechanisms. The review also explores the role of communities, investors, investment instruments, markets, industries, national policies, and global collaboration in these efforts. An August 2025 webinar launching the report, with further information and Q&As, is also available.
