The Productivity Commission's inquiry report identifies priority circular economy opportunities. These include:
- Increasing the use of sustainable materials in infrastructure.
- Creating accountability and product stewardship for the electronic and textile industry.
- Recovering waste from organic materials.
The report provides insights on how to measure progress and address barriers, such as reducing regulatory burden and harmonising standards and specifications across jurisdictions.
The report was tabled in the Australian Parliament on 23 January 2026.
