Successful implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) requires strong private sector involvement. Many companies now recognise the importance of biodiversity for their bottom line, both now and in the future. More are taking voluntary action on nature, but most have not aligned planning and actions to global goals and targets.
Since National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans (NBSAPs) are government-developed plans designed to implement the GBF, and because biodiversity is non-fungible and highly localised, companies can achieve better outcomes by aligning with NBSAPs of the countries and territories where they operate and source from, rather than attempting to align across the broader GBF.
To support this, The Nature Conservancy, supported by Metabolic, developed this report and its complementary “Workbook to support alignment of corporate action and monitoring, evaluation, and learning with the National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs)."
